Bandwidth Cap, Meet High Def 4K Video
Posted on 03:00 by Unknown
As new technologies that more seriously consume bandwidth reach the market (like Google Glass), they are of course going to run full speed, face first, into the slow expansion of broadband usage caps. One of those technologies will be higher definition 4K video streams, which will of course be borderline gluttonous when it comes to bandwidth. Sony is preparing a 4K online video service and their new Playstation 4 will support it -- but the company states the videos themselves will clock in at over 100 GB each. That's something Sony says will create "challenges that we have to work through" but that the company has "some very good ideas that will make that a comfortable consumer experience."
